A couple of censor beeps when the Roman commanders learn the truth, having advanced their line well forward and leaving their rear vulnerable - just as their historical counterparts did.

Players
all good to go: two Roman commanders on the right and two Carthaginian
commanders on the left. Chal umpires in the middle. The Romans are
confident: who can resist their masses of heavy infantry?
The
moment in the game when Chal informs the players that this is actually
Trebia and Mago is ready to spring into action from the ravine on the
Roman left. If looks could kill...
Their
flanks in tatters, the Roman centre makes a desperate attempt to burst
through the Carthaginian line and head for safety. Hannibal's life is on
the line: will he die and lose the battle despite his earlier success?
Couldn't agree more. Video battle reports can be so dull and sleep inducing, but I watched this one right through with great pleasure. It looks like a lot of work - this is practically a proper TV show - but cleverly the rules and game mechanics are put in the background and the show concentrates on the gamers and their interaction - and a classic gaming idea to surprise the participants.
ReplyDeleteI'll be keeping an eye on these guys.
Thanks for picking this up in your news thread! The wargaming audience is a fractured one, making it hard for us to figure out how to reach gamers and let them know we started this channel. Posts like this really help spread the word! We are hoping it might inspire more people to film their games and do high quality video reports, which are in short supply on YouTube for some reason.
